Jim Rohn once said that, “The business of business is people”. Literally in any industry everything involves people. Hope-works is thriving because they aren’t just trying to make money from business but they are producing people by way of character training to cause people to make money.

Marketing North Camden Vision

As many of you are aware, the 2010 Camden Street Map is being produced. Hopeworks does this each year. I am proposing that the organizations in North Camden come together and support a map inset–this would be a large space on the back of the map in which we could “market” what our vision is for North Camden—we could include a map of our current and future projects, some pictures, etc. Hopeworks can create the inset, however, we need to create some buy in for each of us to do this. I think the real strength of this would be:Continue to organize ourselves and develop our collective voice

To continue to publicly present our vision for the neighborhood
Take up our collective responsibility for marketing our vision

A good size inset would cost $3000. With 15-20 groups participating, we are talking about a maximum buy in cost of $200 per organization. There might be other funding strategies as well, I am simply presenting this one for consideration.

Look at these pictures—the prison is almost gone–just mounds of concrete–even some of the towers have been taken down. It is an amazing site!

: Hopeworks Youth Tour Riverfront Prison Site and Ponder the Possibilities!

More than 25 Hopeworks youth walked around the prison and talked about potential ideas for the site. Overall, people were amazed by how close Philly is and thought the water was great. There was much interest in having the path extended along the river. In talking about the site, youth were asked to name one word that summed up what they thought–here is what they thought:
