Hello, it’s so great that this blog exists. My name is Erik and I am part of a team of ten Americorps NCCC members that will be spending about nine weeks living and working in North Camden starting Sept. 9th. We are partnering with Respond, Inc. while focusing mostly on beautification – clearing debris from vacant homes, cleaning and greening vacant lots, developing gardens, etc. All of us are new to the area and ready to have as much impact as we can, so I feel it could be very beneficial to learn from the carriers of this vision to rebuild Camden as much as possible about the history of the area, the different efforts to revitalize the area, and anything else related to North Camden. Perhaps someone on this site would be willing to take some time out of their busy schedule to share with us any information that might be helpful, or to point us in the direction of someone that could do so… my e-mail is emcintyre@mcc.edu. Myself and my team really appreciate anything we can get to help us with this project, so thanks in advance.
